Thank you for applying to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund. This fund was established through generous donations to provide critical assistance to individuals seeking to better themselves through formal education.

 

Please complete this application carefully and thoroughly. Incomplete or unclear applications may not be considered. Please read the statement at the end of the application BEFORE you complete your application! The neatness and completeness of your responses will be taken into account during the evaluation process.

 

By signing this application, you give permission for the information provided to be shared confidentially with the Oak Grove Endowment/Scholarship Committee for the purpose of scholarship evaluation. You also agree that your name (First name and last name initial) and any images of you can be used on the Church’s website, Church Service, and any communications to promote the Scholarship program and successful candidates that received scholarships.

 

Important Dates:

1. Application Submittals starts on 1/15/2026 (no applications can be submitted before this date).

2. Application Submittals stop on 3/15/2026 (all applications must be RECEIVED on or before that date).

3. Any application received AFTER 3/15/2026 will be automatically denied – no exceptions.

4. Applications are reviewed by the Committee between 3/16/2026 to 5/15/2026.

5. The committee will meet as a group on 5/15/2026 to discuss ALL applications and determine which applicants will be awarded scholarships and the amount (up to $1,500.00).

6. OGUMC will send out notifications of acceptance or denial by 6/1/2026 (mail and email).

7. The applicant must notify OGUMC that they are accepting any scholarship awarded in writing by 6/15/2026.

8. All payments will be made by 7/1/2026 (to educational facility).

  

Please read the following statement for more clarity in the application process.

 

The Oak Grove United Methodist Church has a scholarship program that is intended to benefit the Church’s active members who are pursuing higher education programs (college, trade school, etc.). As a Church, we know the value of an education and the financial burden it presents to future students. This scholarship can help alleviate that financial burden. All applicants that receive scholarships must agree to allow the Church to use their name (first and last initial) and picture to promote the scholarship program and its awards.

 

To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant should have the following attributes:

1. Active member of OGUMC or a non-member who is active with OGUMC and regularly attends small groups, youth programs, and/or church services. An active member is based upon the applicant, not their family.

2. The applicant should have a history of community service.

3. The applicant must provide grade records (if college not yet started, a high school transcript is applicable). We are not looking for straight A’s but please explain any reason why grades might be low (example – working while going to school, etc.).

4. Before the scholarship is awarded, the applicant must be accepted by the higher education that the award will be sent to on behalf of the applicant.

5. The scholarships to be awarded can be any amount up to $1,500.00.

6. If you are awarded a scholarship in a previous year, you will not be eligible to submit an application to allow others to benefit from the OGUMC scholarship program.

7. The scholarship committee does not know you. It is up to you to market yourself through your application. The personal statement is used for that purpose. Shout out to the committee how awesome you are and your activity with OGUMC. This is the most important part of your application.

8. All applications must be completed in full. Failure to complete the application will cause your application not to be considered. We do not want that to happen.
